Those Friends

October 21, 2015

You know those Friends that you meet and have an instant connection with.  Those friends that you just know will be in your life forever.  When I met Sindi, I just knew that we would stay lifelong friends.  Like any friendship of course it’s had it’s trials…moving back home to Dallas just after meeting her in Houston didn’t make it the easiest friendship to keep up with, but thankfully with cellphones, facebook and husbands who don’t mind taking trips every now and then we have done our best to keep in touch!

Over the weekend, Sindi and her husband Justin celebrated their wedding anniversary here in Dallas, and it was so much fun catching up with them over brunch!

Hallie LOVES Mrs. Sindi
Joyce, Sindi and  I always take a stair-step picture! So fun!

We all had a great time catching up! Can’t wait to do it again soon! If you want to keep up with Sindi, check out her blog here!

Countdown to Halloween Week 3!

October 19, 2015

I seriously cannot believe we are already sharing the fun we had on week 3! October is just flying by, and before you know it I will finally be sharing Trick-or-Treat photos! Our costumes are FINALLY done! I just can’t wait to share them!

This week, we were all mostly on the mend, and we were able to have a lot of fun!

What we’ve been reading:

Happy Halloween Mittens/The House that Witchy Built/ Pumpkin faces
We borrowed more Halloween themed books from the library, and all 3 were a hit! Hallie loves anything with Animals, so the Mittens book was definitely a fave. She loved how Pumpkin Faces Glows in the dark and The House that Witchy Built was so fun because it is interactive and fun!

Mommy is also done with her first thriller of the month, In the Blood, and on to #2, The Good Girl!
Recipe’s we’ve tried:
I put a spin on this Bread Pudding recipe and used Pumpkin Bread! It was delicious! I think I ate the whole dish by myself!

I also made these fun Monster Sugar Cookies for a Pumpkin Painting Play date! I just made my Mother in Law’s sugar cookies, dyed some vanilla frosting purple and green and placed candy eyeballs on top to create cute monsters!

Halloween Playtime:
Hallie scored these Little People Halloween friends while on a shopping trip! They have a bunch, but of course Hal chose the one with the Puppy!

We were able to make a new footprint ghost this week too! I can’t get over how much my peanut has grown in 1 year!

Fun Fall Outings:

My sweet friend Parisa put together a fun Pumpkin Painting Playdate, which Hallie and I were thrilled to attend, Monster Cookies in hand! We painted a little kitty on our Pumpkin, and Hal had so much fun running around with all of the other kids!

Hallie couldn’t stop Meowing at our Pumpkin!

We were also pleased to attend our friends Matt and Olivia’s Baby shower/Oktoberfest Party! The food was delish and it was so much fun! We couldn’t be happier for them!

Among those delicious treats were the VERY BEST Pumpkin Whoopie Pies I have ever tasted…okay maybe the only ones I have ever tasted, but Hats off to Olivia! She’s such a good chef!
Happy Mommy and Daddy!
Hanging with Mr. Jay
 Old friends!

Currently October

October 15, 2015

Good morning friends! I hope everyone is having a great week! SIckness isn’t done plaguing out house unfortunately and is just bouncing from person to person! Ugh! I hope we are rid of this soon!
Anyway aside from 2 colds and one icky flu we here’s what’s going down at the Mock House.
Reading:
I am currently reading my first Thriller of October.  In the Blood! It’s FANTASTIC! If you liked Gone Girl, you’ll love this! It’s one of those psychological thriller’s that keep you on your toes! Another Goodread find.  Have y’all checked out Goodreads yet?!

Watching: Loving all my Fall shows! Dancing with the Stars, Project Runway, Big Bang Theory! Ah! Big Bang has been SOOO good!

Working on: All kinds of fun Halloween and Fall things! Crafts and planning outings! Then before you know it i’ll be getting ready for Christmas!

Looking Forward to:  Our upcoming trip to New Orleans and of course Halloween and the rest of the Holidays! Any guesses on what Hallie is going to be this year!? (Friends and Family…shh!)

Loving: For Mommy: I always see things I love, but I never end up buying! Hallie is so much more fun to shop for! Regardless, these are the TOMS I currently have my eye on! Perfect for a Nanny, don’t you think?

For Hallie: I am STILL dying over the No Place Like Home Moccs from Freshly Picked!
Also I LOVE the whole Olivia for Gymboree line! Have you seen it?!
Anyway, Hope everyone is doing well! It’s ALMOST FRIDAY!!!

What We Wore Wednesday

October 14, 2015

One of the reasons I LOVE having a little girl is that I can put together cute matching outfits! When we were gifted these adorable Mommy and Me scarves from a dear friend in our playgroup, I couldn’t wait to put together matching ensembles!

Baby: Chambray Shirt/Leggings/Scarf/Moccasins
Mommy: Chambray Shirt (Last season gap similar here) /Jeans/Scarf

And of course I am going to bore you with more pictures of little Miss

Do you ever match your little?

Bubble Bath Paint

October 13, 2015

Yesterday I shared that over the weekend Hallie had her very first Bubble Bath painting experience! The recipe was SOOO easy I just HAD to share it!

Ingredients
Your favorite clear tear free soap (1 Cup)
4 TBS Corn Starch
Food Coloring

In a bowl Mix together the soap and cornstarch.  Next separate mixture into small Tupperware for easy storage. (One for each color) Drop only a couple drops of food coloring into each container and mix well!

I made 2 colors! Slime Green and Purple People Eater Purple

Spoon a drop of each color onto a color pallet and hand the kids a paint brush and let them paint the bathtub walls, their toys, themselves! It was easy to clean up and didn’t stain with only a few drops of food coloring!
Enjoy!

I had a TERRIBLE cold last week, but that didn’t stop us from having some Halloween fun! I felt like laying on the couch in front of the TV a lot this week so (MOTHER OF THE YEAR AWARD) Hallie and I had a Halloween marathon and watched some great Halloween specials! Here’s what we watched!

Charlie and Lola “What Can I Wear for Halloween”

Mickey’s Treat

Mickey’s Monster Musical

I also finished our decorating this week

Look at those teeny toes! We made this last year!
The candles and pumpkins all light up

Saturday night was girls night! Daddy was working late, so we took the opportunity to have a fun Halloween themed bath, eat yummy pumpkin bread and watch Mommy’s favorite Halloween special “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown”

I mixed up some bath paint in Slime Green and Purple People Eater Purple (Lookout for the recipe this week!), pulled out the Halloween rubber duckies, and tried Courtney’s Glowstick bath trick!
She LOVED the painting the walls and her ducks!

THAT FACE!

Then the party began! We turned out the lights and got out our glow in the dark ducks and glow sticks!

Even our new friend “Stan the Fish” enjoyed the fun!
After bath, we wrapped up in our Owl towel! Hallie kept saying “Hoo Hoo”
Then we put on our skeleton PJs and read some library books
Even Puppy got in the Halloween spirit
Then we snuggled up for Charlie Brown

“Gosh Mom! I’m trying to watch!”
Pumpkin Bread! (This week that bread is turning into something else delicious, watch for that next week!)

We also did some Pumpkin Painting this weekend!

Hallie picked a perfect pumpkin at the grocery store
Then Mommy turned it into Mickey Mouse!
Hallie just loved it! We might have to make a Minnie one next!

All in all (aside from the yucky head cold) we had a fantastic week! Hoping to get some Fall weather here in Dallas soon! What has everyone else been up to? Link up below!

Random facts on Tuesday

October 6, 2015

Thanks to everyone who linked up with us yesterday! Please come back and join in on the fun again next Monday!
Today I am feeling a bit under the weather, so I thought a quick easy post was in order! Here are 10 little known facts about me:

1.) The most expensive thing I have ever purchased wasn’t for me…it was Christopher’s wedding ring.

2.) Interesting fact about those wedding rings…my band fits perfectly inside of his.

3.) I have a lot of pet peeves (I get annoyed kind of easily) but one of my biggest is when people mispronounce Hallie’s name…it’s short for Hallelujah so it rhymes with “Sally”

4.) I never learned how to ride a bike

5.) I have extreme anxiety about talking on the phone with people I don’t know…it’s gotten a little better as I’ve aged and had to make more appointments, but if Christopher is home and we are ordering take-out…he’s doing the calling or I will do it online!

6.) I would love to own a bakery that specializes in cookies

7.) I never owned pets growing up, so Stella is my first and only Pet

8.) Hallie was almost named either Bridget or Charlotte, but I changed my mind as soon as we found out she was a girl…neither name felt right

9.)  I don’t really like fruit…there are a few exceptions…I do like pineapple and most fruits as long as they are baked, but you will never catch me biting into an apple…

10.) My Dad works for the Boy Scouts of America, and I have never been camping in a tent…ever!

What are some little known facts about yourself?

Countdown to Halloween Week 1

October 5, 2015

Hello, Happy Monday and Welcome to the first Countdown to Halloween 2015! Check back here for all the details if you missed the announcement! Also make sure to check out my co-hosts blogs (Sweet Turtle Soup, Tickled Pink, Chason’ Mason and the Joni Journey) for more Halloween fun!
I am so excited to get started and see all of the fun Fall and Halloween things everyone has been up to! Also for everyone who lives somewhere where you actually get to enjoy Fall weather, changing leaves and gorgeous Fall clothes, don’t mind if I sit and drool over your pictures for a while!
Despite not having the Fall weather, we have been having a lot of fun here at the Mock house!

Our Halloween Must Haves:
Last week, I shared some of our Halloween must haves! Hallie has been LIVING in her skeleton PJs and that Hocus pocus shirt with her Vanilla Bean leggings (We got the striped ones, but they are sold out now, boo!)

We also have been reading a TON of Halloween themed books! Room on the Broom and Biscuit’s Pet and Play Halloween are our two favorites, but here are some others we borrowed from the library!

1. Boo- Leslie Patricelli

2. Clifford’s First Halloween

3. Where’s Baby’s Pumpkin
DIY Projects and Crafts:
This is usually my favorite part of any holiday! I love getting crafty! So far we have made Pumpkin Spice Play dough for Playgroup, and my mom’s group made fun burlap pumpkins!
– Pumpkin Spice Play dough:

Hallie’s buddy Luna
Hallie must be just like Momma, Loves pumpkin everything! She couldn’t stop smelling it!
Our Buddy Bowen!

– Burlap Pumpkins

Fall Recipes:
So far we have indulged in Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies, Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, Halloween Oreo Brownies and Beer Cheese Soup!

For these suckers, prepare your favorite brownies and drop oreos (or pretty much whatever you want) into the pan before sticking it in the oven…YUM!)

We of course have so much more Halloween/Fall fun on the way!
