King Size Part 2

Happy Monday! If you read up last week you know that we were picking up our new bedding this weekend and I am so excited to share the reveal! We still have to pick up the matching shams and maybe a few fun pillows, so for now, I just used the ones from out old bedding.  I did pick up these new sheets from target though! I really love the look! After much debate we decided on:

Also please ignore the no headboard! We are planning on building one as soon as we get into our new house…whenever that is, so for now it’s #dormliving

 It is super soft and cozy and I absolutely LOVE the color! We have spent most of the weekend snuggled in bed too since little miss was diagnosed with a double ear infection and croup on Friday! We are still on the mend!

Happy Friday Friends! I am so glad the weekend is here! It’s one of those best kinds with very little to do! I am picking up our new bedding so that will be fun! Make sure to check back Monday to see which one we chose!

Well the shop owner Aryka just informed me that she has the CUTEST Easter dress in her shop! I would love to snatch it up, but we JUST bought Hallie’s Easter dress! King Size

Teething bites the big one folks! Hallie never really had it affect her until the dreaded molars reared their evil heads! Around molar number 1 she stopped sleeping through the night (which was the first time since she was like 6 weeks old!) and I was getting up to comfort her multiple times in one night, and would finally give in and let her sleep with us for the remainder of the night.  Around molar number 2 we decided to take the plunge and buy a king size mattress.  For a teeny little girl, she sure does take up a lot of room in bed! She was sleeping sideways, head in Christopher’s back and feet in mine, simultaneously pushing both of us out of bed…we were miserable.
So out with the old in with the new (new mattress and teeth that is) we are loving our new mattress. We are on molar number 3 and all sleeping a lot better…but we are still doing it in our queen size bedding! Here are some photos of our current bedding (check out these flashbacks!) sadly I have no better ones and our bed is currently covered in clean laundry….sooo this is the best we’re getting

So I am finally starting to do a little quilt shopping, and while I love the pattern of our queen quilt, I am thinking I want to purchase something a little more clean and neutral this time. Here’s where you come in:
I have a gift card to West Elm, from our wedding…yes you read that right….that I have yet to spend, and I thought this would be the perfect time! Here are the 3 choices (in no particular order) that I am mulling around, as well as the wall color in our bedroom:

Currently February

Happy Tuesday! Today I am sharing my Monthly Currently post with you! It is so fun to look back and see how much can change in a month! (if I am consistent with them that is!) 
Reading:
I am ALMOST done with Joanne Fluke’s Red Velvet Cupcake Murder.  It’s a series I started a while ago that is kind of a time filler series for me.  They are easy to figure out, have great recipes, and perfect for when I have nothing to read! My Mom loves them too!

Watching: SO MUCH! How to get away with murder, Big Bang Theory, PLL, Project Runway All Stars, American Idol, etc, etc…it’s getting crazy! Also anyone excited for the Fuller House premier? I am 1/2 excited and 1/2 skeptical! I hope its good!

Drinking: Lately (aside from my normal coffee) I have been switching between water with a lemon wedge (I just leave the wedge in my water bottle all day and keep filling it up. It’s pretty cute because Hal insists on having the same!) and These sparkling…they are SO good, and a perfect fix because I gave up soda for lent! The Strawberry/Watermelon is my FAVE!
Eating:  Leftover birthday cake and Valentine candy! GET IT OUT OF MY HOUSE!!! This week I am also trying a few new recipes! I will share the good ones!
Praying: For a few personal things, also there are so many of my loved ones who are ill and need recovery.

Listening to: Right now the rain as well as Hal’s morning cartoon! Today it’s Mickey Mouse.  In the car we have been listening to Glee Pandora! Love it!

Working on:  Of course you think I am crazy, but each week I have been knocking out a birthday project for Hal’s birthday. Some have been as easy as booking my baker for the cupcakes, but if you follow me on Facebook you also know I have been tackling some bigger projects!

Looking Forward to:  
Partly Hal’s birthday, though I don’t want to admit that she is almost 2! It is fun planning something I know she is going to be really excited about! Also SOOO ready for Spring Break.  Even further in the future…looking forward to moving to a new bigger house…we have sort of started to get the ball rolling on that…though it’s not rolling very fast!


Loving: For Mommy: 

Right now I have been very into the whole tunic and leggings trend…mostly because I have extra Thanksgiving/Christmas/Valentines Day/Christopher’s birthday weight that I need to take off before summer! Anyway these Old Navy tunics have been great! I also would love to check out those Lularoe Irma’s and Leggings…anyone else into that!? I haven’t been brave enough to order yet because they are a bit more expensive than I usually buy and haven’t seen them in person!

Weekend and Happy Birthday Luna

We had a great weekend! Hallie’s Memi came to town and we celebrated Daddy’s birthday with his family! It was great!

Hallie also learned a new talent…She just looked over at me and said “Look Momma!”

On Saturday Hallie got to dress up as a Princess to attend her friend Luna’s Sofia the First Princess Party! She had a blast!

1.) We had fun celebrating Daddy’s birthday this week! We went to Twisted Root Burger for lunch! Hallie slept through most of lunch, but woke up in time to finish off the milkshake we were sharing while we ordered her some lunch! After lunch we ran some errands and Daddy picked out his new birthday present at Cabella’s.  Then it was Cheesecake Factory for dinner!

2. The shirt really says it all! Tiny and WILD!

3. Hallie has been so good at “reading” by herself lately! I will sit her on the couch or in her crib with books if I need to shower or get a chore done without her underfoot and she will totally flip through the pages and talk about what she sees! This one was a good one because it’s about cookies so I got to hear her say “tookies” about 50 times! Love it!

4. The pretend play has also started! She will have Minnie talk to Daisy and Daisy talks back. It is mostly gibber jabber, but when I play with her I invent scenarios so sometimes I will hear her repeat things I have said! It’s pretty cute!
5. This was after work yesterday! She refused a nap yesterday and fell asleep in the car on the way home from work…at 6:30.. you can imagine how much fun it was waking her up for dinner….but in this moment, she was a peaceful little angel, so that’s the moment I will commit to memory!

Hallieisms Take 4

Thanks friends for all of the birthday wishes for Christopher! He had a great day!

Today I am sharing with you more of Hallie’s Hallieisms! If you missed the first few posts you can check them out here: Take 1, Take 2, Take 3.
  • I have OFFICIALLY lost count of her words and phrases! She has a new one EVERY day, sometimes 2 or 3! Some new ones: “I scared” (when she hears a loud noise), she knows all of the characters on Mickey now and can say all of their names (Pluto is Toto though! Wrong movie kid!), “Shhh!”, “I don’t know!”, If she can’t find something, she’ll say “Where go?” and “There it is!”- when she finds something, 
  • She will stand on the arm of the couch (if she falls there is an ottoman to catch her, but we still have to be extra careful because this kid is a daredevil!) and scream “Ready, Set, Go!” then jump onto the couch.  Then she gets up and exclaims “Tada!” – I have NO idea where she got that! Actually she ends a lot of cute things she does by saying “Tada!” 
  • Sometimes she will call me “Honey” which totally beats her calling me by my actual name…it’s actually really cute! Then when she wants me (or anyone else) to hold her she will say “I hold you!” It kind of reminds me of those “Most interesting man in the world” ads… “You don’t hold her, she holds you!”
  • She finally is getting more affectionate which I am totally eating up! She finally started saying “Love you!” which completely melts my heart! Also if she wants to snuggle with you she will ask “Tozy Tozy”- which I have found means “Cozy Cozy!” It is so adorable! Sometimes she will drag a pillow and a blanket in and ask me “Tozy Tozy?”
  • If you ask her what she wants for dinner her 3 responses are always “Avotado”, “Steak”(which is any meat except chicken…) or “Pasta” She’s too funny! She also likes to “Cheers!” our drinks.  And if there is ketchup or salsa on the table she has to “Dip it!” 
  • She is still obsessed with Stella and always asks her “What doing?” She still likes to boss her around and tell her “Outside!” and sometimes she will make her play food in her kitchen and give it to her saying: “Here go kid”- lol I definitely call her “kid” too much!
  • We are REALLY working on sharing! But sometimes she will take things away from us or her friends and exclaim “Minez!!!” I always tell her she is not a meme!!!  And if someone takes something from her, girl will hold a grudge!! She was playing at her friend Bowen’s (“Bone-in”) house and he took a toy from her and his mom made him say sorry.  This kid WILL NOT get over it! She will think about him and say “Bone-in say sorry!” I keep telling her, “He’s a nice friend hoping that will stick because he is like the sweetest kid ever! ! God help us when she has a boyfriend break up with her one day!
  • Hallie still LOVES animals! She is so good with saying their names and sounds! She knows: Cat (kitten), Dog (Puppy), Bird, Turtle, Frog, Chicken, Rooster, Duck, Turkey, Goat, Sheep (lamb), Pig, Cow, Horse (pony), Elephant, Monkey, Lion, Tiger, Snake, Fish, Rabbit (Bunny) Camel, Bear, Giraffe, and the sounds associated with each! In fact I am probably forgetting some..its something she is fascinated with! She also will sometimes come up to me and say “Kitty Kiss?” and rub her head on me and say “Meow!” it is too funny! 
  • Girl has gotten in quite some trouble with crayons lately. She is learning that she can only color on paper, and has gotten in trouble for coloring: The wall, her play kitchen stuff, her books, her clothes, the floor, etc.  Though one I had to try SO HARD not to laugh at was the other night when I was cooking dinner.  She said “Paint nails!” I said “That’s right, Mommy painted your nails” (because we had recently done toenail polish) and she said “No Hallie Paint nails” and came up to me and showed off her fingernails which she had colored with black crayon! I had to keep myself from giggling as I cleaned her nails and explain to her that we only color on paper…for the 20th time!! 
  • She always wants to go outside and look for “Bunny’s” “The Moon” or “The sun” Like as soon as Daddy walks in the door she grabs his hand and says “Outside!!!” Too sweet!
She is just a little sponge learning so much and growing so fast! I don’t want to forget a minute of it!

Momfessionals

Okay I have always been nervous to share my confessions on here with the fear of being judged, but I have seen SO many Mom’s share their deepest darkest secrets and so I finally thought…what the heck! We have all done things as Mom’s we aren’t proud of in moments of desperation and exhaustion, so here goes:

1. I don’t iron..in fact I have been known to use my hair straightener as a “mini iron” to get stubborn wrinkles out of my clothes and Hal’s as well…yep! Otherwise I will throw my clothes in the dryer again or ask Christopher…who actually DOES know how to iron! EMBARRASSING!

2.  Speaking of clothes…guess who does our laundry?  Super hubby also does the Laundry, but I am willing to bet that it’s because he has less underwear than I do! Or it could be because I just really hate doing laundry..putting it away is even worse! It usually sits in a pile on the trunk at the end of our bed collecting wrinkles…(cue confession number 1!) until I get annoyed enough with the mess and finally put it all away during a long Hallie nap!

3. I do really CRAZY and super DUMB things to get a laugh out of Hallie! I mean think of all the silliest words, noises and dances you can and go up a notch and you have the level of  nuts I go to get a laugh of a smile out of this kid! But that laugh and smile melt my heart so, I do what it takes!

4.  I bribe…yes sometimes with food…to get Hal to do what I need! “Hallie if you try to go on the potty, I’ll give you an M&M” or “if you eat some of that chicken Mommy will let you watch Mickey!” or sometimes even “if you give Mommy a little kiss I’ll get you a snack!” Guys I am shameful! Hal isn’t always the most affectionate though, sooo….GUILTY!

5. I have a secret candy stash! Sometimes my days just need chocolate! So I have been known to say “I’ll be right back Hal I have to go potty”….and really go sneak an M&M or Nestle crunch egg!

6. If you are an avid reader you know that I freeze Hal’s yogurt and tell her it’s ice cream to get her to eat it! I even put sprinkles on it from time to time to make it more fun and appealing!

7. I teach Hallie all about “good music” for instance we rock out to Spice Girls or year round Christmas carols in the car! Hallie will even ask “Ho Ho music?” when we get into the car!

8. And last but equally disgraceful I buy “kid food” and say it’s for Hallie, but I almost always indulge in the Mac and Cheese, Hostess snacks, chick fil a and fruit snacks!…I just can’t help it! They are my faves! I am such a big kid!
