Mixing Colors

July 26, 2016

Hallie finally knows all of her colors so I thought it would be fun to show her how to mix Primary colors to make Secondary colors! She had SO much fun!

First I prepared a piece of paper with dabs of paint for her to mix together to create each color.

Then I walked her through mixing each set.  I would have her predict what color each mixture would make, and then I would tell her to mix it! It was so fun watching her amazed little face when a new color appeared on the paper!

Once we had mixed all of the colors, Hallie asked to paint some more! She had a blast! The little things!

What are your favorite art activities?

Sometimes you just need to dance in the rain!

July 26, 2016

Today started off pretty gloomy.  Hallie woke up not feeling great and it was clearly about to rain.  (Not that I minded because it was a welcome break from the 100+ days we’ve been having here in DFW) Regardless, it was just kind of a for lack of a better term “blah day”.  We did a lot of resting, a lot of movie watching and a lot of drinking fluids! Thankfully after nap, Hallie was feeling much better and I was going stir crazy.  I let her grab her new umbrella and we headed outside to dance in the rain, because sometimes that’ just what a “blah day” calls for!

Ballet

July 22, 2016

I can’t believe how big Hallie has gotten, but it really hit me when we went back to ballet class this week! I dusted off her ballet shoes (last worn in April) and went to put them on her and it was like trying to fit the glass slipper on Anastasia and Drizella (that is the correct spelling btw..I was shocked!)
Anyway, I finally convinced Hallie who was sobbing to put on some moccs and promised to take her shopping for some new ballet shoes this weekend, and we headed to class.  She had a blast!

Hooray Mail!

July 15, 2016

Hallie has a new favorite thing! It is called Hooray Mail and it is the neatest thing ever! It reminds me of getting Highlights magazines as a kid, but way cooler! It is a subscription service where Hallie can get her very own mail twice a week!
Hallie really enjoys getting mail and of course all mail says the same exact thing “Dear Hallie, come to Hallie’s birthday party, the end!” Poor kid is going to be waiting a while for her next birthday party! At least in the mean time we have Hooray Mail!

I love that with Hooray mail, you get to choose who the mail comes from. We chose “Mommy and Daddy”  and Hallie got so excited when I read the address line and squealed “You give me mail Momma!?”

Each letter has a personalized note from us to Hallie and a fun learning activity for the child!
This month’s was Fourth of July themed and all about the presidents.

Hallie couldn’t wait to get inside and start working on her activities!
The activities this month had a puzzle that Hallie got to color.  Then we had to cut it out and let Hallie put the pieces back in order. Then on the back there was a huge flag.  The extension activity was to count the stripes on the flag as well as the points on each star.  Then we talked about the colors on the flag!
Hallie really enjoyed it and can’t wait to get her next letter later this month!

Hallie’s 2 Year Photos

July 13, 2016

Hallie’s 2 year photos are finally here! Let me tell you, they were totally worth the wait!!
These photos totally show off Hallie’s little personality and I couldn’t be more in love with them…also Hello 2 year old attitude!

The pout! This face was actually brought on by my sweet photographer’s daughter who is one of Hal’s friends…they are only 3 weeks apart.  Darling Mira was equally excited about Hallie’s balloons…Hallie was NOT having it!

Hallie of course had to make sure to add some dancing to her 2 year shoot…her favorite thing to do! Look at those moves!

And this is what happens when my kid sees a dog…

Some kids might be scared of a dog 5X their size..not my kid!

Poor sweet Mira…This was definitely a stare down…I can just hear Hallie “Don’t touch my balloons!” 2 year olds!

Hope you enjoyed! To view the rest of the photos, head over to Whitney’s Photography page

Come Inside, It’s Fun Inside: Hallie’s 2nd Birthday Party

July 11, 2016

I am FINALLY getting around to posting about Hallie’s Mouskaparty! Between helping launch a new business and being sick over here (2x now! Once possible West Nile Virus…yes only me!) blogging has been a bit on the back burner!
But this week I am back and ready to rock and roll!

So without further ado: Hallie’s Mouskaparty:
So many helping hands went into this party! Thanks to my Mother in Law for helping with the food, and My aunt Jane, Father in Law, Sweet husband and Sisters for helping me decorate!
We had a photo booth! I made ALL of the props myself which was so fun, and everyone really enjoyed taking photos! I wish more people had used the #Halliesclubhouse, but it was still a fun idea!
Mrs Sindi and Mr Justin came all the way from Houston to help Hal celebrate!

 My sweet Cleo and Sadie

In the entry way, everyone got to choose some ears to wear!

The party bags! I forgot to get a view of the back, but each one said “Oh toodles” and the kid’s names! My Mom actually helped me make these back in March

 Homemade Ribbon Banner
The Cupcakes, which were a HUGE hit! Hallie had decided months ago that she would eat a Daisy one and she enjoyed telling everyone else which kind they could eat too!
Goofy’s Gooey Fish (Swedish Fish and Goldfish)
Mickey Oreo Pops (Cleo and Sadie helped me make)
 The Handy Helper Station
 Mickey’s Clubhouse Sandwiches
Pete’s Popcorn (Butter and Chocolate Covered Strawberry)
 Minnie’s Bowtie Pasta
The infamous Chalkboard!

The Mantle complete with the wooden letters I made, the invitation and Hallie’s gorgeous Minnie Doll!
 Another handmade Banner
 The invitation
 Minnie Doll and Hallie’s Letters
 My “Oh Toodles Banner”
My Aunt Jane made all of these adorable paper flowers!

 Paper Straws and Mickey Cups
Clubhouse sign…my Father in Law and Husband were kind enough to create this sign! Hallie and I painted it!
I made the “Come inside it’s fun inside sign”
 Donald’s Cheese and Quackers
Chip and Dale’s Chips and Dip

 Pluto’s Hot Diggity Dog Bar
 Bucket Toss Game
Pin the Bow on Minnie game

My silly Nephew, Matt He said “I like Donald because he’s grumpy!” lol

 The Dress and the Bow
Moccasins- Freshly Picked of course

Our WHOLE Mom’s group was there! It’s seriously a Mystical occurrence!

My FIL also made us Mommy and Daddy shirts!

And that’s that! It was a really fun party! Thank you to everyone who helped and those who came to celebrate 2 years of this girl!
XOXO,
Kelly and Hallie

Hallieisms Take 6

June 30, 2016

I know it’s only been a few months since I have done a Hallieism’s post, but this girl just keeps getting funnier and funnier! These are some of my recent favorites

  • When Hal comes into a room sometimes she will exclaim “Peeky Boo!”
  • She knows her full name “Hallie Anne Mock” but if you ask her what your name is she will always add Anne to your name.  I am Mommy Anne, Daddy is Daddy Anne, Stella is Stella Anne…and so on!
  • Recently Hallie started getting remotes, phones and even her baby monitor and tapping on them saying “Testing, 123!” I laughed so hard the first time I heard her do it! I have no idea where she picked it up
  • She officially told her first fib! The Velcro on her jelly shoes broke and I asked her how it happened and she told me “Big Jet broke my Jelly shoes!” (Big Jet is the bad guy on Little Einsteins)  She also played her first trick.  She knocked on the door and told us “Somebody’s here!”
  • She is becoming very sympathetic.  If I get hurt she tells me “I kiss it” or “I get you tissue”
  • Hallie LOVES Disney princesses! She recently started asking me to tie her blankets around her waist like a skirt and she will exclaim “I a Pincess!”
  • This one has a bit of a back story.  Before Hallie came along, Christopher taught our dog Stella to bark when he said “Wanna fight?!” So we were having lunch with our playgroup at a local playground and the birds were crazy.  They kept trying to steal our food and eventually one of them nabbed a sandwich right out of Hal’s hand. My sweet little teeny girl got so mad that she screamed at the bird, “Hey! Wanna Fight!” (FACEPALM!)
  • One of our favorite books is Pete the Cat: I love my white shoes.  There is a part where they say “Goodness no!” So now Hallie likes to say “Oh goodness no!” and it’s seriously the cutest thing I have ever heard!
  • When she wants you to open a marker she will ask you to “break it”
  • We were in the grocery store and she was sitting in the cart.  As soon as I started moving it down the aisles she started yelling “Hallie to the Rescue!”
  • If she can’t reach something she says she needs a “Handy Helper”
  • When we were packing up to move, Hallie found a teeny tiny bat that used to be her Daddy’s when he was little.  She started running around hitting boxes telling us “This is called I smack it!” She is sooo her Daddy’s girl!
  • As you know Hallie has been taking ballet class.  One of the steps is called an Attitude. It’s basically a Arabesque with a bent leg.  One day Hallie was acting up and Christopher told her to change her attitude.  Without skipping a beat, she lifted her leg perfectly into Attitude position! That’s my girl!
  • When she is waiting for someone she will tell you they are “Coming right up!” Like when Tia Joyce was coming over she would say “Momma, Tia Joyce is coming right up!”
  • We were in the driveway and Hallie saw a bug and she said “Aww a little bug! I love it soooo much, I gonna step on him!”
  • Sometimes if she is trying to figure something out she will say “Oops this is tricky!”
  • She was sitting in Daddy’s lap and she leaned back on him and exclaimed “Ahh nice chair!”
  • She keeps INSISTING I have a baby in my belly (I DEFINITELY DO NOT!) but she even told my doctor “Mommy has my baby sister in her belly, her name is Cindy-rella!” She also suggested that name as well as Jasmine to Christopher’s cousin who had a baby boy recently
  • She didn’t want to finish her dinner so she put some on a fork and said “Say Ah!” and shoved it into my mouth!
  • She was eating breakfast at the big table and she put her dolly baby June in the highchair and told my Father in Law “Pop, Baby June is my child!” Where does she get this stuff!?
  • Right before her birthday she started telling everyone “I’m gonna be 2 you know!” She would also invite EVERYONE she came across to her birthday party! And any piece of mail we got said “Hallie Anne, Come to Hallie’s Birthday Party! The end!”
  • Christopher asked Hallie to try and go potty and she tried for 2 seconds and then yelled “IT IS NOT WORKING!”
She is just getting so big and hilarious! This age is just the best! I love it!

2 years of Hallie Anne

June 29, 2016

Oh baby girl! You are my baby girl who is not so much a baby anymore.  Though you are still teeny tiny, you remind me all the time that you are in fact a big girl! Even though I miss when you used to sleep on my chest, and give my gummy toothless smiles, each day with you is more fun than the last. Every day you say and learn new things! Today for example you told me “God Bless you Mommy” and it made me so proud of the big girl you are becoming!

Here is all about you at 2 years old sweet pea:

  • Words/sounds- The kid loves to talk! She is speaking in like 8 word sentences! Some of my favorites: (Daddy, I need new shoes, card please? I go outside, see bunnies hopping in grass? That’s very sweet of you! When I was little, I always have Daddy)

  • Looking forward to- Decorating her new room and playroom when we buy a new house, the holidays, and watching how much she learns and grows this year!
Hallie Anne, you are the light of my life! You make every day so much better! I can’t get over how smart you are! You comprehend more than I could have imagined for any 2 year old! You are also so sweet and thoughtful! I love you more than I could ever express!
Xoxo, Mommy

Oh yes, she’s definitely 2

June 27, 2016

So I have a bunch of photos and updates on Hallie now that she is 2 and now that she has had her 2nd Birthday Party! But of course those are going to be much longer in depth posts and after such a crazy weekend, I figured these photos from our car ride home from Hallie’s birthday party would suffice and be plenty of proof that, Oh yes, she’s definitely 2! This is what I found when I opened the car door to get Hallie out:

Somehow she found my makeup bag on top of her bag of presents.  She also somehow managed to use a color of lipstick that I use for Halloween costumes to paint her face red!

I couldn’t help laughing when I saw her! She is going to keep us on our toes this year for sure!!!

This face brightened our night for sure! Hope it does the same for your Monday!
