Friendsgiving

November 20, 2017

Bringing Back one of my favorite posts today!

I know to most of you Friendsgiving has a totally different meaning, but my favorite meaning of the word stems from a tradition my sister and I started several years ago:

So here is your guide to hosting your own Friendsgiving!

1. Order a ton of food! I suggest Pizza or Chinese

2. Gather Seasons 1 and 3-10 of Friends! (I KNOW! No season 2 episode!)

3. Enjoy!

Season 1: TOW Underdog Gets away!
“I’m very Thankful that all your Thanksgivings sucked”- Chandler

Season 3: TOW The Football
  “I went really long” -Rachel

Season 4: (And my personal fave): TOW Chandler in a Box
“Fine but, Married a lesbian, left a guy at the alter, fell in love with a gay ice dancer, threw a girl’s wooden leg on the fire, live in a box!” – Monica

Season 5: TOW All the Thanksgiving Flashbacks
” Sir limps a lot, I came up with that!” -Ross

Season 6: TOW Ross got High
“What’s not to like? Custard, good! Jam, Good! Meat, Gooood!” -Joey

Season 7: TOW Chandler Doesn’t like Dogs
“Well I started naming states, but then I got tired of it so I started naming different types of celery. So far I’ve only got one, regular celery” – Phoebe

Season 8: TOW the Rumor
“Dear Rachel, you’re a very nice person. Sorry about your teeny weeny!”- Rachel

Season 9: TOW Rachel’s Other Sister
” Who has to die for me to get her” – Joey

Season 10: TOW The Late Thanksgiving
“The Floating heads do make a good point” -Chandler

Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions?

5 years

November 10, 2017

Today marks 5 years of marriage for Christopher and I, and February will be 13 years together. It is true what they say, time flies when you are having fun! Today as I look back on our time together I am thankful for this man.  Christopher is the best Dad to Hallie and an Amazing husband to me. He gives us 110% all the time and we are so blessed to have him loving and protecting our family.  I love you more everyday honey, and can’t wait to see what the future holds for us.

Hallieween Through the years

October 31, 2017

Happy Halloween! We are so excited to share Hallie’s Halloween costume with you! First, lets take a little walk down memory lane and recall her costumes from the past.

For Hallie’s first Halloween, she was a bunny and I was a magician.  I even made a black hat to carry her around in!I had my heart set on the bunny costume, because that’s what I was for my first Halloween.

For Hallie’s second Halloween, she was obsessed with Mickey Mouse Club House. Donald and Daisy were her favorite characters, so I made her Daisy Duck and she carried around a little Donald toy.  That is until her treat bag got too heavy to only use one hand and Miss Independent put Donald on the ground, told him to “SIT!” and dragged her treat bag all by herself the rest of the night.

Last year for Halloween, Hallie insisted on being a mermaid! She was the cutest Ariel I have ever seen and even used the correct terminology when combing her hair with a “Dinglehopper” Since we tossed out the pumpkins last year and before we finished all of the tootsie rolls, Hallie had decided that this year she wanted to be a Unicorn.  So without further ado, here is the Unicorn ensemble that Hallie and I came up with!

I made the Tutu, Tail and Hooves. T-shirt- June and January. Unicorn Horn- Ashlilium. And as always the photos are by the very talented Purple Moments Photography.

The Little Braids in her hair were just the icing on the cake of the sweetest costumer ever!

We hope everyone eats a lot of mini snickers bars and has a wonderful and safe Halloween!

Chicken Noodle Soup- Homemade Noodles

October 11, 2017

As soon as the temperature starts to drop here in Dallas, you can find me cooking up a big pot of soup. Our first pot of soup this season was a staple, Chicken Noodle. It was actually really good timing because Hallie came down with the sniffles just the night before.

Soup Ingredients:

  • 2 TBS Olive Oil
  • 1 Large yellow onion chopped
  • 2 tsp garlic minced
  • 3 Carrots Chopped
  • 3 Celery Stalks Chopped
  • 2 Cups of shredded Chicken
  • 1 can of green beans (or whatever veggie you prefer)
  • 12 Cups Chicken broth (I use bouillon powder but use slightly less powder than recomended on package to prevent it becoming too salty. Add to taste)
  • 1 TBS chopped parsley (I use fresh but you can use dried)

Noodle Ingredients:

  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 ts salt

Directions:

  1. Start by making the noodles. Mix All ingredients together and form a ball.  If it is too wet add extra flour. Too dry add a teaspoon of water.
  2. Mix and cover bowl with a towel for 30 minutes
  3. While you are waiting start on the soup.  First, in a large soup pot add olive oil, onion and garlic and let cook over medium heat until onions start to look translucent.
  4. Add celery and carrots. Cover opening only to stir occasionally, until veggies become tender.
  5. Add chicken and green beans.
  6. Add broth and turn up the heat. Bring to boil while working on noodles.
  7. Roll out dough on a floured surface and cut long ways into long skinny strips.  Then cut into about 1-2 inch noodles.
  8. Once the pot is boiling drop noodles into pot. Add parsley.  Let cook for about 3 minutes. Reduce heat and serve!

Dallas Arboretum- Wizard of Oz Pumpkin Patch

October 9, 2017

Happy Monday Friends! This weekend was one for the books.  My Dad and his fiancee Linda made Hallie’s dreams come true with a fun trip to the Dallas Arboretum.  You see, Hallie’s very favorite movie right now is The Wizard of Oz, and the Arboretum’s Fall theme was just that.  Between the adorable theme and pumpkins and gourds everywhere, Hallie was just in awe taking everything in.  Of course she insisted on wearing her favorite Wizard of Oz dress and Ruby Slippers.

It was precious! They had a yellow brick road that led to little houses made of pumpkins.  In each house there was a painting of a scene from the movie.

Then of course there were Dorothy’s trusty friends, The Scarecrow, The Tin Man and The Cowardly Lion.

To top things off they had a horse of a different color, Cinderella’s carriage and Pumpkins that spelled out “Oz”

We all had such a wonderful time, and Hallie has been gushing about all the things she got to see since we left! This is by far the best pumpkin exhibit we have ever seen, and we can’t wait to go back!

Have you been to a Pumpkin Patch yet this year?

Fall Bucket List- 2017

September 25, 2017

It’s Finally Fall! We are also lucky enough to have cool weather coming this week to Texas which means we can finally start ticking things off of our Fall Bucket List! Here’s what’s on it.

We actually had the Balloon Festival over the weekend! We went to the evening glow, so the lighting wasn’t great for photos, but we did manage one:

What’s on your bucket list for Fall? Do you have any fun Family Traditions?

Hi Friends and Happy Monday! I sure hope everyone had a fantastic weekend.  We spent our weekend with family and even attended the Fall Festival at our Church.

Besides that, I thought I would give you a little sneak peek at what else we have been up to:

Reading:

Hallie and I just finished up Charlotte’s Web and are on to Stuart Little.  She is also LOVING Say Zoop, an interactive book by the same author as Press Here.

As for me, I haven’t picked anything up since the middle of the Summer.  I read The Woman in Cabin 10 and it was fantastic! Looking into books to grab at our next Library visit! Any recommendations?

Watching:

I am SO pumped for Fall TV.  Dancing with the Stars starts tonight and I couldn’t be more excited! We will also be watching How to Get Away With Murder and binge watching Jane the Virgin on Netflix! Who else watches it? We are on Season 2!

Drinking:

This Pumpkin Praline Coffee from Community Coffee. I am all about the Pumpkin Spice!
