Who What When Where Why Wednesday with Sarita

June 3, 2015

Hello Friends! I am back with “Who, What, When, Where, Why Wednesday”. Today I have Sarita from It’s My Girls World Answering all of my questions!

I love reading all about Sarita and her family! Especially her 2 cute strong little girls! Talk about Girl Power!
Here’s what I know about Sarita and her blog:

1. Who?- Who are you? Tell my readers a
bit about yourself

I’m Sarita and I blog over at it’s my girls world. I’m the mama of
two sweet strong girls- ages 6 and almost three and the wife to one very
special boy. I left the corporate world a couple years ago and have very
happily never looked back. There’s some part time consulting that I do still
but more than that my days are filled with my sweet (and oft’ sassy girls).

2- What?- What do you Blog about?
I’m a baker, recipe changer, MBA- er ( that rhymes,
no?),  fitness seeker, clean eater (most days), ex-marketer, sale
hunter, malbec lover and  almost world traveller.
I blog about it all as well as the random happenings in our everyday
life.

  3. When?- When did you start blogging?
I started to blog in January 2013-
so I’m just getting over the newbie phase.
4.  Where? –Where do you live?
Born and raised in the tiny
Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago but I’ve been living in Canada for
almost 11 years. Whenever I’m coming back from TNT, I can’t decide if I’m
leaving or coming back home. The struggle is real, my friends.
 5. Why?- Why did you decide to blog
I decided to blog as a way to  document the little stuff from our daily
lives. My then three year old was saying all this cute stuff and my baby was
growing and I would forget  all the tiny
stuff. It’s so much more than that to me now though. I started this blog to document the lives of our girls but it’s become
so much more than that. Sure I share many snippets of our life, but I also
share my philosophies, tips and tricks, recipes and all sorts of other stuff.
My blogging friends have become a part of my life as well and I love hearing
all the sweet comments from everyone.
I also asked Sarita some fun random questions to get to know her better:
What is your favorite book of all
time?
Books are like my kids. It’s too hard to chose my favourite
one…. Well most days anyways, haha!  I do
have a favourite author- Elin Hilderbrand and I wait with bated breath for her
new release every June and reread her other stuff every summer. If you’re a fan
of Emily Griffin, you’d like her!

What is the most important lesson you
want to teach your girls?
To be strong but sweet, fierce but kind, smart but
empathetic. Women rock and I’m so blessed to be able to mold these two.

If you could go anywhere in the
world, where would you go?
To Greece, or maybe back to Italy but this time to the Amalfi
coast. I adore Europe.

What is your favorite thing about
summer?
I just love how spirits soar in the summer. And the heat!!!
Canada is cold almost 9 months of the year!! ( I guess your next question would
be then why the heck did I leave Trinidad)

Which Celeb’s closet would you want
to raid?
Diane Kruger. So chic!

Thank you  sweet Kelly for having me here and for always
keeping up with us over at it’s my girls’ world.

Thank you Sarita! It was so fun getting to know you a little better!
Happy Wednesday!

Painting with a Twist

June 2, 2015

For my birthday, my best friend Joyce gifted us a session at Painting with a Twist! I was so excited because I had been wanting to try it for the longest time, but also because it meant some quality time with my best friend!

Auntie Katie came over to watch Hallie and Joyce, our bottle of wine and I went to lunch and then off to paint!

It’s pretty awesome! When you get there, you find a station with an apron, a water cup and paintbrush and easel with prepped artwork and the paint colors you will be using. Joyce and I poured our wine, took a few selfies and then waited to get started!

The class stared off with a toast which was super cute! Then the instructor walked us through painting bit by bit!

I am really no artist, especially when it comes to paint, but they both turned out great, and I just can’t wait to go back!

Thank you Joycie for such a fun gift! Spending time together was really the best!

Football Friday

June 1, 2015

Friday night, Christopher’s Dad treated us to an Arena Football game.  I had never been to arena football, but it was actually super fun, and Hallie really loved it!
She had a blast searching for the Mascot, Alamo and really loved the half time show!
During half time, they had 2 Australian Shepherds doing tricks and she couldn’t take her eyes off of them! It was so cute!
I couldn’t resist stadium popcorn!

When Alamo got close, she would get SO excited!

Then we got close to Alamo…she was not having it!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Saturday I had a girls day with my best friend Joyce! Stay tuned tomorrow to hear about what we did!

Happy Monday,
Kelly

Celebrate Good Times

May 28, 2015

Come on! Which is what I bet you have all been saying because I have been slacking on updating on our weekend! So here goes!

Saturday morning we got up and ran a bunch of errands to get ready for my birthday pool party!
We were so thankful that the weather held and though the pool was a bit chilly, some of my friends were able to enjoy it, and my sweet Dad was able to grill pizza for everyone! My mom and I made all of the dough and then everyone put all the toppings that they wanted on and my Dad would throw it on the grill! It was so fun having individual personalized pizza! So many Friends came to celebrate with me, and the babies had a lot of fun!

My Daddy also made white sangria for everyone! So yummy!

Sweet Sindi and her husband Justin came all the way from Houston!
Whitney and Mira had fun in the pool
Buddies!
Pizza!
Play Group
Always have to take a stair step photo with these 2!

I am so blessed to have so many terrific friends! I also got some very sweet gifts! They are so thoughtful!

Sunday Morning we woke up and I opened presents from Hallie and Christopher! I got some new coffee mugs and some gift cards to do some shopping! Then we went to Christopher’s Dads for breakfast!

Hallie playing with Mommy’s presents!
The rest of the day we relaxed and played at home before going to a wedding in the evening!

Beautiful Bride and Groom

It was really such a perfect weekend! Hope everyone else had a wonderful time as well!
XOXO,
Kelly

Who, What, When, Where, Why Wednesday with Jamie Pruitt

May 27, 2015

I know I know, no weekend update yesterday! It was a busier day than I expected! I PROMISE an update on my birthday weekend tomorrow, but today I have a real treat for you!

Today “Who, What, When, Where, Why Wednesday” is back with Jamie Pruitt from The Jamie’s + 1.

I just LOVE the meaning behind Jamie’s blog name and her little boy is just the cutest! Read on to learn a little about Jamie, and make sure to stop over to her blog today to get to know her a little better!

Here’s what I know about Jamie and her blog:

Who?- Who are you? Tell my readers a bit about yourself-

Hi Friends!!
My name is Jamie.  I am married to Jamie (yes we are both named
Jamie).  I am a working mommy to a sweet little boy named Nicklas.
Nicklas is 2 year old and gives me a run for my money every single day!
I am a lover of reality TV, trashy gossip magazines and breakfast food!!
You will normally find me on the floor in our playroom playing with
monster trucks or in the kitchen!

What?- What do you blog about?-
My blog is about
Nicklas.  I write about the struggles of being a working mommy and dealing
with a very independent toddler.  I also try to post some of my favorite
products and recipes.  I hope that I can help other blog friends and I
always ask my blog friends for help when Nicklas is being the devil!

When?- When did you start blogging?-
I started
blogging when Nicklas was about 8 months old.  I actually tried to start
when I found out I was expecting but yah… that didn’t happen!
Where?- Where do you live?-
I am a Mississippi girl who now lives in South Carolina.  I moved to SC when I
was 20, my dad got transferred to SC for work and I was so not ready to be 10
hours from my parents!

Why?- Why did you decide to blog?
I decided to blog
because I wanted to have a virtual baby book for Nicklas.  I print out my
blog each year and I hope Nicklas likes to read it when he is a little older.
I now find blogging very therapeutic and I love all the mommy blogger
friends I have made along the way!
Jamie also answered a few fun random questions for me so that you get to know her better!

1. What
food could you never get sick of?
Olive Gardens Lasagna.  I could seriously eat it
for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack somewhere during the day too!!
Well… I guess I know whats for dinner tonight!
2.  What is something you never leave the
house without?
I could never leave home
without my cell phone.  I have totally irrational fears about earthquakes,
floods, etc. and I won’t be with Nicklas when all these crazy things happen.
Not sure why I think my cell phone will still work when all those things
are happening.
3. What celebrity do you wish was your
bestie?
I wish Ellen DeGeneres was
my best friend.  OMG!!  We could have dance parties and play Heads
Up!!
4.What is your favorite book?
My favorite book is
Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult.  I love all of her books actually.
Some are pretty intense but she is great!
5. Tell us something surprising about
yourself.
Hmm… This
questions is hard.  Something surprising about myself… my husband, boy
Jamie, actually didn’t remember my name when we first met!  And yes… I
still married him!!
Thank you so much Jamie for answering my questions! If you want to learn more about Jamie, make sure to stop by her blog!

Happy Wednesday!

11 Months of Hallie Anne

May 25, 2015

We have had a great long weekend with plenty of celebrations both birthday and wedding! I will make sure to update on that tomorrow, but first what you’ve all been waiting for! An update on Miss Hallie Anne!

I still am so baffled at how fast 11 months have flown. I am trying to soak up each moment of this last month as her baby days slip away and she becomes a toddler. She is growing so so fast and becoming more independent by the minute!

About Hallie at 11 months
Age- 11 months- I am so not ready for her to turn 1 year old!
  • Weight-  About 15 lbs (its only a guess…no weight check this month)
  • Length- 27 1/2 inches.. (also a guess…but she is looking extra tall these days!)
  • Size- Size 2 diapers. They are really huge on her, but I got sick of buying 2 sizes, plus the size 1’s were becoming hard to find at our local store.
Onesies and T’s- 3 month or 3-6 Months. Granted she still has a few 0-3 month ones that fit as well.
Pants- the waist on the 3-6 month are too big, but the length on the 3’s are too small…LIMBO!
  PJs 6 month
  • Eyes- Still blue! Some days they look a little gray or even greenish, but outside they look really blue!
  • Hair- Getting longer and lighter each month! Right now it’s light brown. I have been using a clip to pin back some because it’s long enough to get in her eyes but I am not ready to cut it!
  • Sleeping- Usually 11 hours. About 2 naps a day.
  • Eating- What is she NOT eating?! She still takes a bottle 3 times a day, but is way more interested in food…ANYTHING! Berries, pasta and meat are her faves!
  • Milestones- Just advancing vocally and still trying to walk! Oh and CLIMBING ON EVERYTHING!
  • Words she can say: SO many! We have almost 20 down! New ones: Down, Cat, and Car.
  •  Memorable outings/holidays- Playgroup and weddings really sums up our month!
  • Favorite toys/activities- Hugging and kissing her babies and stuffed animals! Peek-a-boo! She actually learned to do it herself! She will hide her face in the couch until we say “where’s Hallie?” then she pops her head up! It’s the cutest thing you’ve ever seen! Clapping and waving at everything! Prayer Bunny which we call Luna bunny. Dollies and stuffies!  Also: Puppets, especially Kermit! Things that aren’t toys…hairbrush, bottles, tupperware! She loves books! A girl after my own heart! We read before bed every night!  Also loves the rhymes we do at story time! Particularly (Tick Tock,Horse named Ron and Patty Cake!) Loves to play with Stella.  DANCING! She loves to shake it! Especially with Daddy! She also really enjoys listening to music. WALKING with help! Seriously it makes her sooo happy! Loves dressing up! Beads and shoes! She is SUCH a social butterfly and loves to play with her friends! Oh and did I mention CLIMBING!
  • Nicknames- I call her sweet pea, peanut, peanut butter, sweet girl or Hal.
  • Funny moments- Most moments are funny! She has started doing this “stink face” and she literally TRIES to make us laugh!
  • Looking forward to- Each and every moment! They go by so quickly!

Hallie’s Birthday Wishlist

May 21, 2015

My baby is 11 months today! I can’t believe it and I wish it wasn’t true, but just like that she only has 31 days left of being a baby before becoming a toddler! Cue the blubbering and pass the tissues!

Anyway, I promise an update on her next week, but for now, I thought I would share her birthday wishlist since many friends and family members were already asking what she wanted! Errr…I wanted for her…

1. A growth Chart- I really want to get or make a growth chart for Miss Hallie to match her room and with her name at the top.  I think it would be a perfect memory for this momma that has a hard time watching her baby grow up!

2. PJs and clothes for summer– Right now Hallie is wearing 6 month PJs, 3-6 Month Clothes (Rompers 3 month, Tshirts/pants 6 month, dresses 6 month)

3. A Bitsy Mermaid.  I thought it would be super cute since she is a Summer baby.  I really wanted to get her this doll, but they are sold out until Fall! Super bummer! I guess that one will be a Christmas gift!

4. Books, Books, and more books….and maybe another bookshelf to hold them all! lol This kid for real LOVES to read! She can sit FOREVER and flip through pages pointing at the pictures! Especially if there are animals in it! Then she will excitedly scream “PUPPY” at each lamb, cow, and chicken, etc! We have a whole Amazon Wish List of books!

5. Baby Sign Flash Cards- Hallie is starting to get REALLY good at baby signing.  I would love to teach her more, but I am running out of signs that I know!

6. Baby Laptop– This might be the only real toy we are asking for aside from the doll because our house is being overrun by toys.  However, this one would be great because she tries to touch my laptop all the time. I figure MAYBE if she has her own, we can “blog together”.

7.  Cream and Gold Moccs- I almost got them in the sale yesterday, but her size was sold out! Boo! So hopefully they will be restocked before her birthday, because they will go perfectly with her birthday outfit!

Hope that helps family and friends!
Happy Thursday!

Who, What, When, Where, Why Wednesday with Sindi Barker

May 20, 2015

Hello and Happy Wednesday! This particular Wednesday is such an exciting one for me! Today I am kicking off a new feature called “Who, What, When, Where, Why Wednesday”!

This will be a fun feature for my readers to get to know my favorite bloggers!

I am so excited to introduce you to my close and personal friend Sindi Barker who blogs over at My Infertility Journey.

Sindi is one of the strongest ladies I know and I hope you go check out her blog and follow along with her on this journey.

Here is a little about Sindi:

      Who?- Who
are you? Tell my readers a bit about yourself

Hi everyone, my name is Sindi. I’m a stay at home wife
(yes, we exist haha), a runner, a foodie, a blogger, a lover of dogs,
specifically my two fur babies, Chief (6 yr old lab) and Sarge (3 yr old mutt).
I was a nanny for 12 years, but retired almost 2 years ago in November. I love
cooking, so you’ll always find me in the kitchen with a glass of
wine and a spatula in both hands. Oh and I am a wine lover as well! Yummy to
wine!
What?-
What do you Blog about?
My blog is about what I’m going through with
my infertility for the past 3 yrs and odd months. I talk about my everyday life
dealing with a dumb disease called PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and a DNA
mutation MTHF that prevents me from getting pregnant and staying pregnant. I
write about my infertility to try and inspire others that are going through the
same thing or have                              gone through it.

 When?-
When did you start blogging?
I started blogging specifically about my infertility in November of
2014. But, I’ve been a blogger for almost 5 yrs now. My other
blogs were about working out and cooking. I do miss talking about my cooking,
but I figured I would reach out to more people going through the similar
situation I’m going through.

 Where? –Where do you live?

I was born in Guatemala, but I’ve been a Texan since
I was 3 yrs old. That’s the age my parents brought me to this beautiful
country I call home. I live north of Houston, but I have 2 dream cities I would
love to live in; Denver or Austin.
      Why?- Why
did you decide to blog
My decision to blog came solely because I needed some type of therapy
after I lost my second baby at 18 weeks. As much as I talked to family and
friends, just blogging about how I felt made my grieving a little better. Also,
I wanted to let others that are going through the same thing, that it’s ok to talk about infertility and miscarriages. It shouldn’t be a taboo thing. It bothers me that society makes it seem like
infertility and having miscarriages should be a hush hush thing. It’s ok, if you feel that way, but know that you have so many couples out
there that have gone through the same thing. You are not alone. So I’m hoping that me blogging about my experience, it can help others be
more open about it.

Sindi was such a good sport! She also let me ask her some random questions to share with you for fun!

Do you have a hero or someone you look up to?
My hero is my dad. He’s gone through so much but somehow he comes out
with a huge smile on his face. He’s worked so hard a his
life to provide for his family. He’s struggled a lot in
life but that doesn’t get him down. To me, he’s a strong person and a great dad!
What one thing would you not be able to live
without?
Oh my. That’s a tough question! I don’t think I could be able to live without a lot of things nowadays, but
I would have to say, I couldn’t live without my car. It takes me everywhere
and anywhere I need to go. Without it, I wouldn’t be able to drive to
all of my fertility appointments, and they are a lot of appointments each week.
At least 2 appointments a week to get blood work and ultrasounds done.
What 5 people would you have to a dinner party
if you could choose anyone dead or alive?
I would definitely want to have Audrey Hepburn, Gerard Butler,
Elizabeth Banks, Mark Wahlberg, and of course Bradley Cooper! I would invite
them to dinner because that dinner conversation would be a very interesting and
funny conversation. Plus, this are all of my favorite actors/actresses.
What is your favorite Disney Movie?
I have so many, but if I had to only choose one, it would definitely
be Cinderella. I’ve been obsessed with that movie since I was a
little girl. My mom nicknamed me Cinderella because I couldn’t get enough of that movie. I still can’t! I watched the new
Cinderella and LOVED it! Still, the classic is my favorite.
Tell us about a Childhood memory that you have?

I remember one Christmas, I think I was about 10, I woke up on
Christmas morning with my little sister and little brother and we ran towards
the Christmas tree. We had so many presents under our tree! I had gotten
everything I wanted plus more. I had asked for a Rockets basketball (I was a
big Rockets fan back in the day), I got a cool bike, and some skates. I was
such a tomboy when I was little and would ask “Santa” for things that girls usually didn’t ask for. My sister would always ask for Barbies and girly stuff.
After we opened our gifts, we ate breakfast and had a hot drink my mom makes
during the holidays, it’s called, Ponche. It’s a Guatemalan hot punch with a lot of different fruits. So yummy!
Anyways, that’s one of the many memories I have that pop up
and puts a smile on my face.
Thank you so much Sindi for answering my questions and for agreeing to be my first guest! Everyone make sure to head over to Sindi’s Blog today and check it out! She is such an incredible lady!

Also if you are interested in being a guest, make sure to email me at Kelhof87@gmail.com

Happy Wednesday,
<3 Kelly
