Currently June

June 14, 2016

I cannot believe that June is half over. More importantly I can’t believe that in 1 short week my little bean will be 2! How does time go so quickly!  As we prepare for the fun birthday festivities next week, I thought I would share what else is happening here in the Mock house!

Reading:
I really really miss reading! I have been SOO busy this month that sadly my recreational reading has taken a hit! Any books I should put on my summer reading list though???

Watching:
Hallie and I have been watching a bunch of Disney movies and we are so ready for the premier of Finding Dory!!!

Drinking:
I have actually been pretty good at carrying my water bottle around with me again since the plague took over our house last week!
Eating:
Lots and lots of soup! We have all been trying to get plenty of fluids around here! However, I am anxious to try some pinterest recipes when everyone is feeling better! This one looks YUMMY!
Praying:
That all of the things our family has been working so hard on pan out!

Listening to:
Lately a ton of John Mayer, Jack Johnson and Nora Jones…must be the rain!

Working on:
The last few to do’s for Hal’s party….and something else 😉

Looking Forward to:
Seeing how excited Hallie gets at her party!

Loving: For Mommy:
I’ve been needing a new wallet! My Dad gave me a Coach GC for my birthday and I THINK I am going to pull the trigger on this one!

For Hallie:

Old Navy is KILLING it with patriotic clothes for kids! I am OBSESSED with this one!

What have you been up to?

Saying Goodbye to the Mural

June 13, 2016

It totally breaks my heart to think about the mural in Hallie’s room now. Many of you know that before Hallie was born, My Mom, Mother in Law and myself painted a beautiful tree mural with birds and butterflies on Hallie’s wall.  By now it is probably covered with a fresh coat of white paint getting ready for new tenants as an investor bought our home.

A week or so a before we moved out, I had my good friend Whitney, come and take some photos of Hallie playing in her nursery before we boxed things up.  Photos I am sure to cherish for the rest of my life. Photos I will be sharing with you as soon as we get them back!

The last day we were in the house I took Hallie into her room, just the two of us.  I sat her down on the bare floor as all of the furniture and her toys had been packed away in boxes and moved already. I told her “how happy Mommy was when I found out you were girl”. I told her “I knew immediately the vision I had for the nursery where we would bring you home for the first time.” I explained to her all of the people who had a hand in helping me make my vision come to life. “Tia Joyce helped me make your letters, and Auntie Jennifer and I made your mural. Daddy and Pop put together your crib which was given to us by Ms. Marie and Sophie. Daddy, Uncle Adam and Aunt Kate built your changing table which was given to us by Nana and Bapa.  But the most special gift in your room was the mural. Mommy, Memi and Nana spent hours getting the tree, birds, butterflies and flowers just right.  We talked the whole time we worked about how excited we were for your arrival. We wondered what you would look like and how your personality would be.  We were so proud with how it turned out.”

“Then when the room was done and you arrived Nana continued coming over to add “finishing touches” to your room.  She was so excited! She made you curtains, cross stitched bears for your walls and painted a peg board for us to hang your ballet shoes on! Eventually we had no room left to put anything, but she wanted everything to be perfect for you.”

After I told her all of of that, I took her over to the tree and we took a couple of photos and said goodbye to her room, goodbye to the mural, and goodbye to Nana. It was a sad sweet moment, but one I am so glad I took the time to have.

Mom will live on in the photos, and Memi and I will make sure Hallie’s room is just as special as the first!

First day of Summer Break with the big girls

June 9, 2016

Last Friday was our first day of our Summer Schedule with my girlies at work…also known as the day we went into a sugar comma!

The girls knew that the first thing they wanted to do was hit up Bahama Bucks (a snow cone place we have here in Big D) but I had already planned on bringing donuts for National Donut Day.

So who says we couldn’t do both?! It’s Summer! No rules!

We started off the day with some really delicious donuts! I let Hallie pick hers! Sprinkles of course!

Then after lunch we when out for a Bahama Bucks Date!
Hallie chose Birthday Cake (Probably because of the Sprinkles again!)
I had Sugar Cookie! So yummy!
The girls enjoyed a nice laid back first day of Summer before their crazy dance schedules begun and Hallie enjoyed a little sugar crash nap!
What are your summer plans?

That time we almost ended up with a new dog

June 8, 2016

Hi friends! I promise I still love all of you! It’s just been one thing after another over here.  First the hubby came home with Bronchitis, then Hallie ended up with Croup…again! And this Mommy was JUST diagnosed with Sinusitis and possible strep with also means a probably tonsillectomy for guess who? Joy oh joy! I’ll be speaking with a specialist in the next few weeks!

Anywho, Don’t let me bore you with any more medical stuff, just wanted to explain why I have been MIA…again! I am really here to tell you the story about the time we almost ended up with a new dog:
It all started just days before we moved out of our house. I was coming home from work to pack more boxes and had just turned into our neighborhood when I see this little baby almost get hit by a truck.

I of course got out and grabbed the sweet girl (who was shaking from almost being demolished by a truck and from the 2 giant dogs barking “I’m going to eat you” threats from across the street!) and put her in my car. She was a little muddy so I put her on the floorboards. Without skipping a beat she jumped into the front seat, licked my arm profusely and started smiling at me.

I got to the house and ran in to get Stella’s leash and tell Christopher about out sweet find.  He suggested we walk around the neighborhood for a while hoping to find the owner while I called Petsmart to make an appointment for her to check to see if she was chipped.  Christopher hopped on our neighborhood Nextdoor site to see if anyone had posted about a missing dog.

He luckily was able to track down her owner and they made arrangement for the owner to come immediately to pick her up.  But oh, the story does not end here my friends. 30 minutes goes by, no owner…

By this time it was passed dinner time and we had already packed up our kitchen so Christopher ordered some Thai food for us while we waited for the owner. During this time…Hal literally falls in love with this dog. She even shared a sticker with her. We start wondering if the owner is even coming at all.  I joke with Hallie about what she is going to name her new dog.  She decides on the ever popular name “CharlieAndLola Anne Mock”

Ps excuse our lawn, the lawnmower conveniently died the day after we signed the papers on the house

Food comes…still no owner. We decided to take her inside while we eat. Just as we are sitting down to eat, the owner FINALLY shows up…about 2 hours after I found the poor pup. Apparently this is a frequent occurrence for her. We learned that her name was Aria and that she had a LONG journey all the way from the opposite side of our neighborhood. Easily a 10 minute walk.

Hallie sadly said her goodbyes to CharlieAnd Lola…err Aria. I almost wanted to keep her myself after hearing that she escapes so frequently and it takes the owner so long to find and retrieve her… Also since meeting miss Aria, Hal been asking for a puppy for her “Happy Birthday”.  Now every time she sees a dog she says “I need it for my Happy Birthday!” We are in trouble folks!
So now there you have it friends: The story of how we almost ended up with a new dog!
Happy Wednesday!
